Will Writing Services Now Available on Shopping Channel

Posted by Kings Court Trust

Now this story certainly caught our eye – according to the Leicester Mercury, legal firm Legacy Probate Services have announced that they are to begin offering funerals and will writing services via a popular TV shopping channel based in Peterborough, called Ideal World. The Leicester-based firm will begin offering these services from April this year.

Legacy Probate Services employs around 70 members of staff but holds a client base of around 80,000 individuals. Simon Hughes, the commercial director of the firm, claimed that the new TV offering will allow the business to "sit in a number of living rooms at the same time and explain just how important it is to plan for the inevitable."

Hughes continued to note that the response has been particularly positive and that engagement with the firm has increased, because the public "never understood until watching the programme just what problems can occur" when it comes to drafting a will, "and what difficulty [...] could be [left] behind for family and loved ones."

The commercial general manager of Ideal World, Stewart Craig, also noted how successful the TV show had been, and reiterated the point that the information shared on the show was proving to be very informative for viewers and helped them recognise their options "without being pressurised", all from their front room.

What do you make of this innovative method for spreading awareness about the benefits of professional will-writing services? Do you think more legal firms should advertise in this way?
