How We Work

Nobody looks forward to having to administer the estate of a loved one so we’ve worked hard to make the process as simple as possible.

Step one:

When you call our free Probate Advice Line on 0800 014 7334, our Probate Support Team will advise on whether you need probate and what to do next. They will offer you a no-obligation home appointment with a Probate Consultant at hours to suit you. During the home visit, our Probate Consultant will discuss with you the work needed to administer your loved one’s estate, and will give you a written, fully inclusive, fixed price for all the work necessary.

Step two:

After asking us to start work, we’ll provide you with your own dedicated Case Manager who will be your point of contact. You’ll have their direct-dial phone number and email address so you’ll always be able to get in touch. They will speak in plain English with no unnecessary legal jargon. Key work during this stage is valuing the estate assets (such as the house, shares, banks accounts), dealing with HMRC for the tax aspect and applying to the Probate Registry for the Grant of Probate.

Step three:

The final step is collecting in the assets, settling any liabilities that the deceased owed (such as a mortgage, other loans and bills), and handling the sale of any property. Once these are done, the money and other legacies left in the Will are paid to the beneficiaries. We prepare a report for you, called Estate Accounts, which sets out for you all the financial details you will need for future reference.
